Research interests
The group develops the Dynamical Systems research line of the Institute of Mathematics of the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso, focused on describing the asymptotic behavior of systems from a topological, geometric, metric, or probabilistic standpoint. Its interests include (partially) hyperbolic systems, non-uniformly hyperbolic systems, systems with dominated splitting, non-archimedean and complex dynamics, dimension theory, hyperbolic geometry, and discrete groups acting on negatively curved spaces. The group's work also covers symbolic dynamics, equilibrium states, Lyapunov exponents, topological entropy, and bifurcation theory.
History
The group originated from the Dinámica Porteña permanent seminar, started in 2008 at the Institute of Mathematics of the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso and consolidated over nearly twenty years as a stable space for scientific collaboration. During this period the seminar has kept a continuous archive of talks (2008–2026) and has also included short courses and student seminars.
Researcher training takes place through the Master's Program in Mathematics of the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso and the Doctoral Program in Mathematics, run jointly with the Universidad de Valparaíso (UV) and the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (USM); outreach is carried out through activities aimed at students and school communities.
